Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest grower and packers of Carrots, Onions and Potatoes supplying Australia’s leading supermarket chains plus independents and exports.

We are currently seeking experienced and motivated MIXED CROP FARMERS to join our team on a full-time permanent basis, supporting operations at our Parilla site in South Australia.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team. Reporting directly to the Farm Manager you will be working in an outdoor farm environment.

An attractive remuneration package between $75,000 – $85,000 is available to the right candidates.

Duties include:

· Plan and coordinate the production of crops, including grain and vegetables, in all stages from soil preparation to harvest, taking into consideration various factors including environmental conditions and market requirements.

· Responsible for the selection and planting of seeds, seedlings and bulbs, for range of grain and vegetable crops.

· Developing new varieties by grafting root stocks.

· Manage and maintain crop production by cultivating, de-budding and pruning.

· Monitoring and maintaining optimal growing conditions of all crops.

· Organise and conduct collecting, storing, grading and packaging of produce.

· Organising the sale, purchase and despatch of produce to customers.

· Manage and supervise fertilising and pest and weed control.

· Undertake general maintenance on the property.

· Maintain records of farming activities, monitoring market activity,





· Plan crop preparation and production to meet customer requirements.

· Responsible for the selection, training and supervision of staff and contractors

· All other requirements as directed to achieve business objectives.

Requirements:

· Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field, plus at least 1 year of relevant work experience OR at least 5 years of relevant work experience.

· Experience in a horticultural operations / farm management.

· Experience in the management of potato, carrot, and onion crops (desirable).

· Basic mechanical knowledge and experience working with large scale agricultural machinery.

· Unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence (essential).

· Chemical User Certificate Accreditation (essential).

· Forklift license (essential).

· HC license (essential).

· Cultural adaptability and a willingness to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.

· Ability and willingness to undertake manual, and sometimes physical work.

· Ability and willingness to work outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions.

· A willingness to be hands on and participate in a broad range of duties, a robust work ethic is essential.

· Respect for others and pride in team’s performance.
