Role summary...

The National Distribution Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity, compliance and on-time delivery of all customer orders across the distribution network.

The role leads the national logistics function to ensure the performance of logistics partners, distribution providers and internal stakeholders consistently meets customer expectations, regulatory requirements and business objectives.

The National Distribution Manager is accountable for the strategic direction, operational performance and continuous improvement of the organisations national logistics program. The role drives supply chain efficiency, challenges existing practices, identifies innovation opportunities and ensures logistics operations are financially, operationally and commercially aligned to safely support the business.

The position plays a critical leadership role in fostering strong internal and external partnerships, ensuring cold chain compliance, maintaining customer service excellence and delivering a safe, compliant and cost-effective logistics network.

Key Responsibilities......

- Develop and maintain a long-term logistics network strategy that supports business growth, customer requirements and operational efficiency.
- Lead transport tender processes, carrier selection and contract negotiations to ensure optimal service, capability and value.
- Evaluate freight networks, delivery models and distribution pathways to improve service, reduce cost and minimise risk.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology, automation, data analytics and digital solutions to improve logistics performance.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor practices and emerging technologies to ensure the business maintains best-practice logistics capability.
- Partner with Supply Chain,



Operations, Planning, Sales and Finance teams to align logistics network design with future business requirements.
- Lead strategic logistics projects, including network redesign, route optimisation, warehouse-to-customer flows and transport efficiency initiatives.
- Develop business cases and recommendations that support investment decisions and long-term supply chain capability.
- Establish benchmarking and performance review processes to drive continuous improvement across the national logistics network.
- Lead the management and performance of all national transport and logistics providers.
- Establish clear service level agreements and performance expectations with logistics partners.
- Conduct regular business reviews with transport providers to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Monitor freight partner compliance with safety, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), cold chain and service requirements.
- Ensure freight incidents, service failures and corrective actions are managed within agreed timeframes.
- Build collaborative relationships with suppliers and logistics partners to support operational excellence.

Experience required.....

- Minimum 7 years' experience in logistics, transport, supply chain or distribution leadership roles.
- Experience managing third-party logistics and transport providers nationally.
- Strong understanding of food manufacturing, FMCG, fresh produce or temperature- controlled supply chains.
- Demonstrated experience leading operational and strategic improvement initiatives.
- Robust commercial, analytical and financial management capability.
- Experience managing compliance obligations including Chain of Responsibility requirements.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and locations.
