About the Role
Living Well OT is seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist to join our team to provide aquatic therapy for children and teenagers at Palm Beach Aquatic Centre. This position is available as maternity leave cover for our current Occupational Therapist, with the potential for further work as our aquatic therapy service continues to grow. This role is ideal for an OT who enjoys working with children and adolescents and would like to develop specialised skills in aquatic therapy.
Our sessions are engaging, play-based and focused on helping children work towards meaningful functional goals while building confidence, independence and participation in the water. No previous aquatic therapy experience is required. Comprehensive training, handover, mentoring and all therapy resources are provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual aquatic therapy sessions for children and teenagers
- Develop engaging therapy activities that support each child's functional goals
- Support motor skills, coordination, strength, endurance, sensory regulation and confidence
- Support children to develop independence and participation
- Build positive relationships with children, teenagers and their families
- Work collaboratively with families to establish goals and monitor progress
- Complete clinical documentation
- Contribute to a supportive multidisciplinary team
- Work a weekly Sunday shift, with potential to increase hours over time
About You We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who:
- Holds current AHPRA registration
- Has an interest in working with children and teenagers
- Is enthusiastic and willing to learn about aquatic therapy
- Is creative and able to make therapy fun and engaging
- Has an interest in sensory processing, regulation, motor development and functional participation
- Has an understanding of the NDIS, or is willing to learn
- Holds a current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check
- Holds current CPR certification, or is willing to obtain it
