Join Queensland Health’s Oral Health Graduate Talent Pool and be considered for employment opportunities across Queensland Health’s Hospital and Health Services in 2027.

The opportunity

Queensland Health provides world-class healthcare. From September 2026 to February 2027, we are taking expressions of interest from final year dentist and oral health therapist students from across Australia and New Zealand to work in our health services. The opportunity includes participating in the Early Career Dental Practitioner Program, a structured pathway for new graduates to be mentored and supported to develop their clinical skills, whilst being provided with a broader clinical exposure including specialist clinic rotations (eligibility conditions apply).

We offer salary packaging, annual salary increases, guaranteed pay rises for 3 years, professional development support, and rural or regional allowances where eligible.

Graduate Pool Role Description

Dentist Clinical (DO1 - $127,836 - $149,449)

- Roles at this level require employees to hold a relevant tertiary degree qualification in dentistry.





- Positions classified at this level cover both recently qualified graduates and developing practitioners.

- Positions classified at this level have a clinical focus and undertake clinical duties in dentistry commensurate with the level of clinical experience, mostly of a routine nature.

- Clinical duties at this level require a competent level of professional knowledge and skill, and ability to undertake routine clinical practice independently.

- Employees classified at this level participate in, and may have responsibility for, an oral health team.

- Graduate dentists employed as such will commence on paypoint D01, and according to years of experience and satisfactory work performance, be eligible to advance by increment to paypoint DO1.3, and no further.

Oral Health Therapist Clinical (HP3 - $80,015 - $116,189)

- Roles at this level require employees to hold a relevant tertiary degree qualification in oral health therapy.

- HP3 covers newly qualified graduate professionals, developing clinicians and proficient clinicians.

- Employees at HP3 utilise an acquired level of professional knowledge and skills to deliver clinical services in accordance with professional standards, guidelines and work unit procedures. Employees usually participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.





- Roles have a clinical focus with employees performing a range of duties, mostly of a routine nature. Duties are performed under regular supervision and/or guidance from more experienced practitioners, with the level of clinical practice supervision decreasing, commensurate with increasing experience in the role.

- Employees may be expected to manage their own workloads, undertaking routine clinical duties independently and by exercising sound levels of professional clinical judgement in decision making. More complex clinical decision making is undertaken with support or guidance.

- Oral health therapists employed as a current graduate will commence on paypoint 3.0 and according to years of experience will be eligible to advance by increment to paypoint 3.7.

Consideration

We are encouraging expressions of interest from final year dental and oral health therapy students interested in full time or part time employment in early 2027. To be considered for this opportunity, you must be:

- qualifying as a graduate dentist or oral health therapist with proof of a certified qualification by February 2027

- eligible to register with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)

- able to provide vaccination evidence
- able to confirm you meet Australian Working Rights criteria.
