The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) are seeking experienced environmental professionals to join the Approvals portfolio as a Principal Environmental Officer. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to some of Western Australia's most significant environmental assessment processes and help inform decisions that balance development with environmental protection.
As a Principal Environmental Officer, you will provide high-level scientific and technical advice to support the Environmental Protection Authority's functions under the Environmental Protection Act 1986. The role is responsible for leading and coordinating environmental impact assessments,
contributing to the development of environmental policy and strategy, and ensuring assessments are scientifically rigorous, evidence-based and aligned with legislative and policy frameworks.
Working on complex and often high-profile projects, you will investigate, assess and report on the environmental impacts of development proposals and planning schemes. You will engage with industry, government agencies, scientific experts and the broader community to provide clear, practical advice on environmental matters and facilitate informed decision-making.
