About us
Djinda Produce is Western Australia's only 100% Aboriginal-owned fresh produce supplier. With over 10 years in the market, we supply fresh fruit and vegetables to government, corporate, and retail customers across WA and are an approved supplier under the WA Government Common Use Arrangement (CUAGRO2019). We're a close-knit, fast-moving team built on a solid track record of reliable, quality service.
We’re hiring a full-time Cleaner to keep our site — including our high-care processing area — clean, hygienic, and audit-ready every day.
About the role
Some of our customers operate in protected environments where nothing gets in unchecked. Every carton of produce we send them is inspected, item by item, for insects, scale, soil, and anything else that shouldn’t be there — and every inspection is documented. One missed contaminant means a rejected consignment and a reportable non-conformance. This is detailed, hands-on work with a real consequence attached to getting it right.
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager and Quality Assurance Coordinator, you’ll:
- Inspect all produce, packaging, and packing materials for insects, scale, soil, and foreign contaminants before dispatch
- Wash, brush, trim, or repack produce and packaging where needed so it meets quarantine entry requirements
- Run the quarantine room day to day — keeping inspected and uninspected product strictly separated, and the room, benches, and tools clean and ready
- Reject, label, and segregate anything that fails, and arrange rework, return, or disposal
- Complete quarantine inspection records, compliance documentation, and traceability paperwork at the time of inspection
- Check cartons, liners, pallets, crates, labelling, and consignment markings before dispatch
- Hold product and escalate immediately when quarantine standards can’t be met
- Work with the warehouse and dispatch teams so daily deadlines are met without cutting corners
About you
- At least 1 year in a Quality Control, Inspection, or Quality Assurance role
- Exceptional attention to detail — you can spot a single insect, a trace of soil, or a small defect, and stay sharp doing it all shift
- Thorough and methodical, and honest in your paperwork — records here are the audit trail
- Confident holding product and escalating, even when a truck is waiting
- Comfortable standing for long periods, lifting and carrying 12–15 kg repeatedly, doing repetitive hands-on work, and working in chilled areas
- Safe, accurate knife handling for extended periods
- Available for overtime, including Sundays, during public holiday weeks
- Right to work in Australia
Experience in fresh produce, high care, or another regulated food environment — or with quarantine, biosecurity, or export inspection — will put you at the front of the queue. Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, or GMP, safe knife handling training, and a current driver’s licence are all a plus.
What’s on offer
Permanent full-time work (38 hours per week) with a growing WA business, competitive pay, and training in our quarantine and food safety procedures. Djinda Produce is WA’s only 100% Aboriginal-owned fresh produce supplier, with more than 10 years in the market and approved WA Government supplier status. Some flexibility with start and finish times will be needed to meet dispatch deadlines and while we relocate to our brand-new Canning Vale facility in early October 2026.
