About the role

We are looking for a reliable Roof Plumber to be responsible for the sheet-metal roofing and roof-

drainage side of RTT's commercial projects. Working as part of the in office crew, the role brings each roof

back to a structurally sound and watertight condition – renewing and repairing guttering, downpipes,

flashings and cladding, and fabricating the metalwork required – so that the RTT Sealant membrane and

coating system can be applied over a sound surface and the finished roof performs for the life of the

warranty.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• Ahead of each commercial roof or tank job, work through the site-assessment report, architectural

drawings and RTT product specifications to plan how the box gutters, downpipes, flashings and

rainwater goods will run and to list the sheet metal and RTT materials the crew needs on site.

• Cut, roll-form and fix sheet-metal roofing, box gutters, rainwater heads and custom flashings on

shopping-centre,



warehouse and industrial roofs, checking the metalwork is watertight and

correctly set before any membrane is applied over it.

• Strip out and renew rusted or failed guttering, box gutters, downpipes and rainwater heads, and

reset falls so water sheds to the outlets instead of pooling on the roof.

• Repair and re-secure metallic roof and wall cladding sheets, fasteners and seams so the roof

envelope is sound and dry before waterproofing begins.

• Re-flash and re-cap roof penetrations, parapets, ridges, valleys and wall-to-roof junctions,

fabricating custom flashings and cappings to suit each roof profile.

• Connect box-gutter and downpipe outlets into the building's rainwater and stormwater discharge

points, and on tank projects tie roof run-off into rainwater tanks and their overflow so water is

carried clear of the roof.

• Fault-find and trace leaks on existing metal roofs, gutters and downpipes during site assessments

and warranty callbacks, and carry out the repairs.

• Set up and work safely at height on commercial roofs – harnesses, anchor points, edge protection

and elevated work platforms – in line with RTT's safe work method statements and its QBCC-

licensed work practices.

• Order and check sheet metal, fasteners and RTT products for each job, and keep photographs and

job notes for the project file and the warranty record.

• Liaise on site with facility managers, retail groups and building owners, and coordinate with the rest

of the RTT crew to keep each job on program from surface preparation through to hand-over.

Skills required:

•Certificate IV in Plumbing + at least 1 year of relevant work experience OR at least 3 years of

relevant work experience
