The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Export Operator to join our Operations team in Tullamarine. Reporting to the Freight Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our Export operations are delivered efficiently, accurately and to the high standard our clients expect. This is a hands on senior operational role where you’ll manage end-to-end sea and air export shipments, take ownership of complex and escalated files, and provide day-to-day technical guidance and support to other members of the Export team.

You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute beyond your own portfolio, helping strengthen processes, improve service delivery, share your knowledge and support the continued development of our Export team.

What You'll Be Doing

- Manage international sea and air export shipments end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with client and regulatory requirements.

- Take ownership of complex, high-value, sensitive and escalated export files.

- Coordinate with clients, overseas agents, shipping lines, airlines, co-loaders, cartage providers, CFSs, CTOs and other service providers.

- Prepare and manage export documentation including EDNs, PRAs, FIs and Dangerous Goods documentation.





- Proactively monitor shipments, identifying and resolving potential delays, exceptions and operational issues before they impact the client.

- Prepare and review export quotations with consideration for service quality, competitiveness and profitability.

- Maintain strong relationships with clients, carriers, suppliers and overseas agents.

- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and on-the-job support to Export team members.

- Act as a senior operational resource and point of escalation within the Export team.

- Work collaboratively across Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Customs and other departments to deliver strong client outcomes.

- Identify opportunities to improve Export processes, workflows, systems, service quality and operational efficiency.

- Maintain accurate and timely information within relevant freight management and business systems. Represent Magellan professionally at customer meetings, networking events and industry functions.

About You

You’ll be an experienced freight forwarding professional with strong technical knowledge of international exports and the confidence to operate at a senior level within a busy operational environment.

You’ll bring:

- A minimum of five years’ relevant freight forwarding experience, including demonstrated experience at a senior or lead level within Export Operations.

- Strong hands-on experience managing international sea and air export freight.

- Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end export processes and documentation.

- Strong knowledge of Australian Customs and relevant biosecurity/quarantine requirements.





- A current Dangerous Goods (DG) Handling Certification, together with demonstrated experience handling, preparing and declaring Dangerous Goods shipments.

- Strong experience preparing EDNs, PRAs, FIs and associated export documentation.

- Experience working with shipping lines, airlines, overseas agents, co-loaders, cartage providers and other freight service providers.

- Experience preparing and reviewing freight quotations, with an understanding of freight costing and profitability.

- Strong freight forwarding systems experience, ideally including CargoWise One, Expedient or similar platforms.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and solutions-focused when managing operational issues or escalations.

- Excellent organisation, prioritisation, communication and attention to detail.

- A cooperative approach with the ability to coach, mentor and share knowledge with others.

- A proactive mindset with a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
