Maintenance Officer/Tradesperson
Farmborough Grove, Farmborough | Part time – 4 days per week | $31.51 per hour + super + NFP benefits
Keep things running for your local community
Are you a practical, hands-on person who enjoys fixing things, solving problems and keeping properties well maintained?
We’re looking for a Maintenance Officer to join our team at Farmborough Grove, our independent retirement living community in Farmborough. You’ll also provide maintenance support at Nareena Homes in Figtree, another of our independent living communities.
This is a great prospect to put your practical skills to work in your own community, helping maintain safe, comfortable and well-presented homes and shared spaces for people enjoying their retirement.
You’ll be part of a friendly team and have plenty of variety in your day. One minute you might be replacing a tap washer or light globe, the next you could be responding to a maintenance request, moving furniture or arranging access for a contractor.
What you'll be doing
On a daily basis, you’ll receive work requests for your allocated facilities and services through our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Where required, you’ll work with the Asset Coordinator to prioritise works and ensure jobs are completed in a timely manner.
Your work will include a range of routine, planned and reactive building and property maintenance tasks, such as:
- Replacing light globes
- Unblocking toilets and drains
- Changing tap washers
- Moving furniture and equipment
- Painting and minor repairs
- Waste disposal
- General external cleaning
- Other building and property maintenance tasks as required
You’ll also:
- Ensure contractors attending site have completed the appropriate site induction and are working safely
- Advise managers or staff when maintenance work may impact a service area
- Maintain buildings and equipment in accordance with relevant legislation and corporate standards
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly and professionally
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, staff and families
- Build positive relationships with residents and understand the importance of providing a responsive and respectful service within an independent living community
What you'll bring
You’ll be practical, reliable and comfortable working independently while also being part of a wider team. You’ll have:
- A trade qualification in a maintenance discipline, or equivalent proven experience
- Demonstrated experience in a maintenance role
- A current driver's licence
- Knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to buildings and workplace health and safety
- Demonstrated ability to maintain buildings and equipment in accordance with legislation and/or corporate standards
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- An understanding of contractor obligations and safe work practices
- Good computer skills
- Knowledge and experience using a CMMS would be desirable
If you’re looking for a practical role where you can use your skills, build relationships and make a difference close to home, we’d love to hear from you.
