This is hands-on hauling work with Dantel, an Australian-owned telco contractor: proving conduit, hauling fibre through pit and pipe, running rod, and getting cable in the ground on live telco and data centre projects across South East Queensland. Some away work when the jobs call for it. It is physical, it is outdoors, and it is the backbone of everything we build.
We are not chasing someone who already knows it all. If you have got some field or civil experience, the right attitude, and you actually want to learn the trade, we will train you properly and give you a path. The crew is led by people who have done the work with their own hands, so you learn from people who know it, not from a manual.
The Role
You will work in a hauling crew getting fibre-optic cable installed through Telstra-style pit and pipe networks. Day to day that means:
• Proving underground conduit with air compressors (blowing air and rope bags) and high-pressure water flushing
• Hauling fibre-optic cable through underground pit and pipe networks, including winch-assisted hauls
• Internal hauling and cable installation inside buildings and facilities
• Setting up and operating cable winches, rodding, and roping gear safely
• Pit and pipe work, locating, and general civil labour on site
• Field surveys and capture (DCAF) once you are trained on it
• Keeping the site safe, clean, and to standard, every job
Do not worry if you have not done all of this. If you know some of it and you are willing to learn the rest, that is what we are after.
Where It Goes
We build people up. Start as a hauler, learn the network and our standards, and there is a genuine path into leading hand and crew leadership for anyone who shows they can carry it. We back that with real tickets and training (Cert III Telecommunications, confined space,
traffic management, first aid) rather than just talk about it.
What You'll Need
The non-negotiables are short on purpose. If you have these and the right attitude, we can teach you the rest:
• A current Australian driver's licence (manual an advantage)
• Physically fit and genuinely up for hard outdoor work in all conditions. This is manual, demanding work.
• A White Card (or willing to get one before you start)
• Reliable. You show up, on time, ready to work.
• Accountable. You own your work and your mistakes. Mistakes are fine if we learn from them. Hiding them or passing the buck is not.
• Willing to travel for the occasional away job
Nice to have, but we will train you if not:
• Any cable hauling, civil, or telco experience (Telstra, NBN, Optus, TPG, or similar)
• Exposure to Telstra pit and pipe networks
• MR or HR truck licence
• Confined space and gas test, traffic management, or first aid tickets
What We Offer
• Trained by people who know the work. Your leaders have done this job with their own hands. You learn the trade properly, not off a spreadsheet.
• Real tickets and a real trade. Cert III Telecommunications and the tickets that make you more employable and better paid, paid for by us.
• A clear path up. Haulers who put the work in move into leading hand and crew leader roles. We promote from the crew.
• Variety. Data centre builds, carrier networks, civil work. You will not be stuck doing the same thing on the same street for years.
• A crew worth working with. Good operators, valuable sites, and standards that make the work something to be proud of.
