About the role

Melbourne Girls Grammar is seeking a knowledgeable, innovative and engaging educator to join the collaborative team working across the Junior Years Program and our Modern Languages Faculty as a Part Time (0.50 FTE) Teacher of Italian teaching Prep to Year 4.

Based at our Morris Hall Junior School Campus in South Yarra, you will inspire a love of language learning and Italian culture in our youngest learners while contributing to a dynamic and supportive teaching setting.

- Part-time (0.50FTE), Ongoing Position

- Work Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Key responsibilities

- Plan, deliver and evaluate a high-quality Italian language program for Prep to Year 4 students

- Create engaging learning experiences that develop students' confidence in communicating in Italian

- Incorporate contemporary pedagogical approaches and a range of language-teaching methodologies

- Differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs, interests and abilities of students

- Foster an appreciation and understanding of Italian language and culture

- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance curriculum and learning programs

- Utilise technology, online learning tools and multimedia resources to support student engagement and learning outcomes

- Monitor, assess and report on student progress in accordance with School requirements

- Build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues, contributing to the broader life of the School

About you

- Qualifications and experience teaching Italian, preferably within Primary Years settings

- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration, or be eligible to obtain registration

- Fluency in Italian and a strong understanding of Italian language and culture

- Experience delivering engaging and age-appropriate language programs for young learners

- Knowledge of a range of LOTE teaching methodologies and contemporary pedagogical practices

- Demonstrated ability to differentiate learning and cater to diverse student needs

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to professional practice

- A commitment to child safety, student wellbeing and girls' education
