This is an opportunity to join a well-established and rapidly growing plant hire, haulage and civil services business generating in excess of $100 million in annual revenue.

Based in the company’s Sydney office, the CFO will take ownership of the finance and administration function and work directly with the Directors and senior management team as the business continues to expand.

The position requires someone capable of operating at a genuine CFO level within a sizeable privately owned business — implementing financial controls, improving reporting and policies, managing finance and administration staff and ensuring the commercial and financial systems of the organisation keep pace with its growth.

Key Responsibilities:

- Take overall responsibility for the company’s finance and accounting function.
- Lead, manage and develop the finance and administration team.
- Implement and improve financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and invoicing across a high-volume operation.
- Ensure invoicing and debtor management processes are accurate, effective and commercially focused.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
- Produce monthly management accounts, financial reports and board-level reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and commercial advice to the Directors and senior management team.
- Monitor business performance, margins, utilisation, costs and profitability across different operational divisions.
- Manage company cash flow, banking relationships and working capital requirements.
- Oversee tax, GST, BAS,



statutory reporting and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, insurers and professional advisers.
- Review existing systems and identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting and financial visibility.
- Develop appropriate financial controls for a business operating at $100m+ turnover.
- Assist management with strategic planning, business growth and investment decisions.
- Support commercial negotiations, major contracts, equipment purchases and capital expenditure.
- Ensure the financial function can scale as the company continues to grow.

The Successful Candidate:

You will be an experienced senior finance professional who is comfortable working within a fast-moving, operational business.
Experience within plant hire, transport, haulage, civil construction, infrastructure, logistics, equipment hire or another asset-intensive industry would be highly advantageous.

You will ideally have:

- Previous experience as a CFO, Finance Director, Financial Controller or senior Finance Manager.
- Experience working within a business of significant scale, ideally $50m–$100m+ turnover.
- CA, CPA or equivalent accounting qualifications.




- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing finance and administration teams.
- Strong knowledge of cash-flow management, budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience implementing financial procedures, systems and internal controls.
- A strong understanding of high-volume invoicing and debtor management.
- Excellent commercial judgement and the ability to work closely with business owners and operational managers.
- The confidence to challenge existing processes and introduce greater financial discipline where required.

This is not a purely corporate CFO position. The company is looking for someone who is willing to become involved in the operation, understand how the business makes money and build the financial systems and team required to support its next stage of growth.

The business already operates at substantial scale and continues to grow.

The incoming CFO will have the opportunity to strengthen the finance function, establish improved financial and commercial controls and become a key member of the senior leadership team.
