This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced higher education professional with strong analytical ability, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to interpret curriculum, course rules and complex academic documentation.
The role sits within the Senior Officer, Admissions function, with a specific focus on Advanced Standing and Credit Assessment.
If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, applying policy and sound judgement, and making accurate decisions that directly support students, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
You'll play a key role in assessing advanced standing and credit applications, ensuring decisions are accurate, consistent and aligned with university policies and requirements.
You'll:
- Assess and process advanced standing and credit applications with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
- Interpret curriculum, course rules, academic policies and institutional guidelines when assessing student applications.
- Review and assess complex academic documentation, including academic transcripts, course outlines and qualifications.
- Apply established precedents, eligibility criteria and policy thresholds to straightforward applications.
- Exercise sound judgement when applications fall outside existing precedents or involve partial equivalence, non-standard qualifications, overseas study or pathway programs.
- Manage fluctuating and high-volume workloads during peak intake and offer periods.
- Maintain current knowledge of admissions, credit transfer and advanced standing processes.
- Provide clear and accurate advice to internal stakeholders across faculties and Admissions teams.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within relevant systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across Admissions operations and service quality.
What we're looking for
We're looking for candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Advanced Standing or Credit Assessment within a tertiary education environment.
- Admissions assessment within a university or higher education institution.
- Course transition or enrolment teams, particularly involving curriculum, study plans or course transitions.
- Higher education administration involving the assessment of academic documentation.
You'll also bring:
- Strong analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to interpret academic transcripts, course outlines and curriculum information.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- The ability to interpret and consistently apply policies, rules and procedures.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to work accurately under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence working independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
Your assessment experience
This role involves a combination of rules-based and judgement-heavy assessment.
While some applications will involve clear eligibility criteria, policy thresholds and established precedents, others will require a higher level of professional judgement.
This may include assessing:
- Partial equivalence between subjects or qualifications.
- Non-standard qualifications.
- Overseas study and academic equivalencies.
- Pathway programs.
- Applications that fall outside existing precedents.
- Coursework-to-coursework credit applications.
Daily volumes can fluctuate significantly depending on recruitment activity, pathway programs, conversion campaigns, major intakes and offer rounds. You'll therefore need to be comfortable adapting to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Why this opportunity?
- Join a leading Australian university.
- Work within a centralised and cooperative Admissions team.
- Hybrid working arrangement - 3 days onsite and 2 days from home.
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
