We have a rare opportunity to join our hugely successful team here in Railton, Tasmania as an Electrical Project Engineer.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will deliver Capex and Opex Projects from start to end by supplying technical details and engineering to the design, procurement, construction and commissioning teams. You will manage internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes and support the success of our operations.

Your Opportunity
In this role you will:
- Ensure safety standards and behaviours on the construction sites to be as per, or better than, CA andLegislative requirements
- Apply engineering governance, standards and assurance processes to ensure projects relating to electrical systems are protected, fit for purpose and aligned with CA requirements
- Be an electrical subject matter expert, influence engineering decisions, support technical capabilityacross the business through mentoring, coaching and the sharing of engineering knowledge, while contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, practices and asset performance. This will extend from 22kV, low voltage, controls or hazardous area systems.
- Manage the labour and resource planning, reporting, and implementation to make the most efficient use of staff and external services
- Coach, mentor and develop graduate engineers and technical professionals on site.
- Use innovation and continuous improvement to develop project specifications within boundaries of the imperatives handed from the project owners
- Ensure that designs meet or exceed CA and Aus/NZ engineering standards as and where required.
- Provide technical support for the effective commissioning of projects maximizing local ownership and use of CA resources
- Ensure effective use of project design techniques/tools and engineering methods and standards are applied for all assigned projects
- Identify and engage specialised external contracting resources and service providers as required
- Works collaboratively with internal and external resources to prepare and/or assess business cases, concept designs and feasibility studies for proposed projects.
- Develop design, specification, scoping and engineering for new projects and liaise with key stakeholders to optimise project proposals and concepts.
- Learn, facilitate, coach and champion capital expenditure request processes including business case and feasibility and prepare capital expenditure requests (CERs) as required
- Ensures HAZOP and MOC studies are conducted for new plant and equipment installations as required
- Ensure that Risk Management processes are utilised throughout the project lifecycle and managed on a project Risk Register.
- Works with Procurement in the development and evaluation of Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), tenders and awarding of contracts to support project execution.
- Develops and presents regular projects/jobs status updates and reports to internal and external stakeholders (as needed)
- Ensures projects utilise quality documentation and practices for equipment delivery, assembly, installation and commissioning.
- Ensure that Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) are conducted and meet contracted requirements before ex-works shipping.
- Ensures projects have effective commissioning and site handover plans, and are executed in accordance with agreed timelines and performance targets without impacting normal site functions.
- Ensure Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) meet contracted requirements.
- Support, facilitate and maintain drawings office works.
What You'll Bring
- Degree qualifications Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
- 5+ years experience working in electrical engineering, Scada and PLC systems installed in large manufacturing facilities. (Preferably cement manufacture)
- 2+ years' experience in project engineering/management to a value of up to $10M
- Knowledge to be able to read & modify Auto-Cad drawings.
- Proficient in the use of the MS suite of products. (Especially MS Project, Excel, Word & PP)
- Proficient in the use of SAP
- You're a team member/ leader
- Ability to work with multiple discipline teams including contractors/consultants.
- Project budgeting, estimation and cost tracking knowledge and experience
- Basic knowledge of PMA and PMBOK principles
