About the Role

Reporting to the Acting Director Conservation & Infrastructure, you will provide leadership, strategic advice and project management expertise across a diverse portfolio of conservation capital works and maintenance programs. You will oversee the planning, delivery and monitoring of conservation projects; manage specialist staff, consultants and contractors; and support PAHSMA’s standing as a leader in heritage conservation.

- Lead designated conservation capital and maintenance projects from planning through to delivery.

- Develop and monitor project programs, budgets, progress reports, and status reporting.

- Monitor heritage assets and establish prioritised programs of cyclical conservation works.

- Manage conservation projects in line with PAHSMA governance requirements, legislation, regulations and professional standards.

- Lead and mentor Conservation Project Officers and oversee external consultants and contractors.

- Manage statutory permissions and provide strategic advice on conservation and infrastructure matters.

About You

You will be an accomplished heritage conservation professional with demonstrated expertise in managing conservation projects, historic buildings and culturally significant places. You will bring strong leadership capability, sound project management skills and the ability to engage effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

- Senior-level experience planning,



documenting and delivering capital and maintenance conservation projects.

- Demonstrated expertise in the conservation of historic built fabric and places.

- A thorough understanding of contemporary conservation principles and practices, including the Australia ICOMOS Burra Charter 2013.

- An understanding of current building construction standards, particularly the National Construction Code.

- Proven experience leading professional teams and managing trade staff, consultants and contractors.

- Highly developed communication, consultation, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

- A degree in Architecture or a related cultural heritage discipline, or an equivalent qualification.

- A postgraduate qualification or experience in a relevant cultural heritage management discipline.

- Industry-recognised professional affiliations.

- A qualification or experience in construction project management.

- Accreditation under the Building Act 2000.
