Northern Health offers an opportunity to join a kind and collegial team, supported by a competitive craft group agreement. A commitment to a Part Time post , with a balance of 50% clinical work across these three UCCs and 50% clinical support time in order to fulfil leadership responsibilities across the UCC network, working closely with the respective Nurse Unit Managers at each site.

With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hour's drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourne's North is fast becoming the place to be.

Northern Health are seeking applications from a motivated and suitably experienced Medical Officer to lead the teams in the Urgent Care Centres (UCCs) at Craigieburn Community Hospital, Mernda Community Hospital and Kilmore Hospital. Kilmore and Mernda already have well-established UCCs, and Craigieburn's UCC is an exciting new facility opening in October 2026.

This UCC network aims to provide great care for our consumers close to home, treating minor illness and injury while also commencing stabilising care for those more unwell requiring transfer onwards.





Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

The UCC Network Clinical Lead oversees care provided at these three sites, with attendant responsibilities for clinical governance, workforce management and quality improvement.

To be successful in this role you have:

- Fellowship of one or more of:

- Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM)

- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)

- Experience working within an Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre
- Leadership and management experience in a similar setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and safely with staff and patients
- A commitment to delivering safe, kind and patient-centred care with a focus on inclusivity and cultural safety, reflective of the communities that we serve
