The RCM is seeking expressions of interest from an experienced Contemporary Vocal Teacher to join our vocal teaching team. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of contemporary vocal styles and techniques and the ability to engage students across a range of ages, abilities and musical interests.
Key responsibilities
Contemporary popular singing and vocal styles across a range of genres
Individual and, where appropriate, group vocal tuition
Contemporary vocal technique, vocal care and healthy vocal production
Song interpretation specific to different styles e.g. pop, jazz, folk, country, rock and musical theatre
Stagecraft including microphone technique, stage presence and working with other musicians/backing tracks
Preparation of students for concerts, performances and auditions
Preparation of students for relevant examinations, where appropriate
Supporting students interested in songwriting, events singing and gigs
Participation in RCM performances, ensembles, workshops and other educational activities
About you
Demonstrated experience teaching contemporary voice to students of varying ages and abilities
Robust knowledge of contemporary vocal techniques, repertoire and performance practices
Able to work effectively with children, young people and adult students
Experience working within school or music education environments
Committed to student-centred teaching and the development of individual musical interests and goals
Prepared to work collaboratively as part of a skilled teaching team and share knowledge and skills
Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive, skilled relationships with parents and carers
Current NSW Working with Children Check or current application number
Current Australian Driver Licence
