About the Role
The Youth Ministry Coordinator has been established to help take forward the Catholic life of the school by further strengthening the partnership between the school and local parishes and for engaging young people into responsible participation in life, mission, work and the Catholic faith community through a range of initiatives and activities. The role gives leadership to the promotion of and preparation of events such as World Youth Day, the Australian Catholic Youth Festival, Ignite Conference and SCS Evangelisation Days.
This position will form an important role within the Religious Education team as an effective teacher and contributor to the Evangelisation programs and promoting the Religious Dimension of the school. This role will enable the building of a specialised Religious Education team.
The Youth Ministry Coordinator position is a 1-point promotional role, temporary for up to 2 years, however your teaching position will be full-time and permanent.
To excel in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
strong and active commitment to the practice of the Catholic Faith, with a well-developed understanding of the evangelising and catechising mission of the Catholic Church
experience and skills in engaging young people into the diverse works of the Catholic Church
an understanding of the emerging approaches to youth ministry and evangelisation
commitment to and passion for events such as World Youth Day, the Australian Catholic Youth Festival, and Ignite Conference, as pilgrimages of faith for young people
commitment to participate in and contribute to a formation program facilitated by Sydney Catholic Schools
highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
group and teamwork facilitation skills
capacity to foster and strengthen relationships between the school and parish communities
excellent time management, organisational and administrative skills.
The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications:
Category DAccreditation in accordance withTo Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools Archdiocese of Sydney Accreditation. Category E Accreditation desirable
is a Baptised Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of your relationship with Jesus Christ
demonstrates the standard descriptors at lead teacher level, in accordance with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
post graduate units of study in leadership (advantageous).
Desirable criteria:
completed, or has evidence of, study toward a Graduate Diploma or Master of Religious Education or Theology.
