The Position
Canberra Health Services seeks an accomplished healthcare executive to lead North Canberra Hospital through an important period of transformation, integration and growth.
This is a pivotal leadership appointment within one of Australia's most dynamic public health systems, providing the opportunity to influence both the future of the hospital and the broader delivery of healthcare across the ACT.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the 320bed North Canberra Hospital, ensuring the delivery of protected, effective and person-centred services while maintaining a strong focus on access, patient flow, quality, workforce capability and financial sustainability.
The role requires an executive who can successfully balance operational excellence, budget management (managing a circa $350M budget) with long-term strategic thinking, bringing together the ****FTE staff around a shared vision and creating a culture that supports exceptional patient outcomes.
North Canberra Hospital occupies a unique place within the Canberra Health Services network and is entering a period of significant change.
A major priority for the successful candidate will be strengthening alignment between the hospital and the wider health system, fostering a more connected and collaborative approach to service delivery.
At the same time,



the General Manager will lead the hospital through its circa $2B redevelopment and future service planning, helping shape contemporary models of care and positioning the organisation for long-term success.
This opportunity will appeal to a seasoned hospital leader with experience managing large-scale acute services, complex stakeholder environments and significant organisational change.
You will bring operational credibility, strong financial acumen and a demonstrated ability to build culture, develop high-performing teams and maintain trusted relationships across clinical, executive, government and community settings.
