UniActive is seeking multiple
Sports Officers
to oversee the smooth delivery of our scheduled sports competitions on the University of Wollongong campus.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is confident making decisions, communicating with a diverse range of people, and managing the fast-paced environment of competition nights.
As the key on-site contact for players, team managers and officials, you will help ensure competitions run safely, fairly and on time while providing a welcoming and qualified experience for all participants.
This is primarily an
evening competition-based role
, with availability required across scheduled competition nights.
About the Role
Reporting to the Sports Manager and working closely with the Competition Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and administration of competition nights.
You will oversee competition areas, coordinate referees and officials, support participants, manage minor issues as they arise, and ensure competition results and relevant information are accurately recorded.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of sport, focusing on Oztag, basketball and soccer who can remain calm under pressure, communicate confidently and make fair, timely decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee scheduled competitions to ensure games run safely, smoothly and on time.
Prepare courts, fields and competition areas prior to the commencement of play.
Monitor competition areas throughout the night and respond to operational issues as they arise.
Assist with player registration and eligibility checks where required.




Monitor officiating standards and identify areas requiring follow-up.
Assist with officiating or umpiring duties where required.
Act as the primary on-site contact for team managers, players and officials.
Assist with fixture changes, team requests and competition communications.
Complete incident, injury and complaint reports where required.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations relevant to the sports being facilitated.
Assist with other UniActive sports programs, school holiday programs, birthday parties and events where required.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Passionate about sport and creating positive experiences for participants.
Confident supervising competitions and making quick, fair decisions under pressure.
An effective communicator who is comfortable speaking with individuals, teams and groups.
Professional, approachable and able to build positive relationships with participants and officials.
Knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of a variety of sports.
Experience & Qualifications
The following experience and qualifications are highly regarded:
Experience playing, coaching and/or officiating sport.
Sports officiating, refereeing or umpiring qualifications.
Current
First Aid and CPR certificates
.
Valid
