The Cadetship roles fit within the GHD Digital Design cohort in the South Queensland region.
This cohort is in the order of ******* Designers and Drafters across a region comprising approximately 900 people spread across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, and Toowoomba.
GHD fosters and encourages the training and employment of design drafting professionals.
In recognition of this,
GHD South Queensland has invested in the SQ Documentation Technician Development Program, a program for developing our trainee Drafters ("Cadets") who are undertaking an Associate Degree in Engineering or approved equivalent.
This program delivers supervised on the job training, mentoring, financial study support and study leave.
The Cadet will spend the majority of their time working in a project setting, acquiring design and drafting skills under the direction of their Manager, Senior Drafters and Engineers.
Purpose
The acquisition of design skills by our Cadet's is paramount to GHD and the resultant opportunity of a qualified Design Technician qualified is the final outcome.
The work that the Cadet undertakes at GHD supports the development of the Cadets and compliments their studies.
The ultimate goal of the program is to "grow our own" – to provide a working environment to the Cadet, that fosters knowledge gain, in parallel with external studies.
It is hoped that the relationship established during the Cadetship period will not only provide a lasting benefit to the profession (as a whole) but also contribute to staff retention.
Our people and their long-term commitment to the business is important to us.
Upon successful completion of each assessment unit, GHD will pay the cost of each unit.
A typical associate degree course comprises 16 units at approximately $**** per unit.
This equates to $***** across a 4-year period.
This significant investment in our people is a strong indicator of the importance of developing and retaining talented people within our business.
It also emphasizes the relevance of the role within the business, and the future that we see for these people.
We will employ the successful candidate in a full-time capacity (40 hours per week), 10 hours of which is dedicated to Study Leave.
The Study Leave time is allocated to the Cadet to assist them in meeting the contact time and examination attendance requirements of the course.
Details
We will likely be looking for 3 Cadets across the South Queensland region.
Each Cadetship opportunity will be within a discrete Business Group (or regional office) working and learning within a specific discipline.
The **** intake will be Civil positions
Applications will close end of October with application interviews and assessment being undertaken throughout November.
It is anticipated that successful candidates will be advised prior to 19th December, with anticipate start date late January/early February.
