Job description DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Workplace Health Safety Advisor to join a Queensland Government client based in Townsville.
This is an excellent opportunity for a WHS qualified who is passionate about workplace safety and enjoys working across diverse building, construction, and maintenance environments.
Working closely with the Principal Workplace Health Safety Advisors and WHS Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation and monitoring of Workplace Health, Safety and Environmental (WHS E) initiatives across operational teams.
Key Responsibilities Conduct WHS E audits and site inspections to ensure compliance across departmental and contractor-delivered projects.
Provide expert WHS E advice and guidance to operational, supervisory, and management staff.
Support the delivery of safety information sessions and training initiatives.
Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and contractor notifiable incidents.
Contribute to worker rehabilitation and return-to-work programs.
Support emergency planning and response activities across offices and depots.
Assist in the development, review, and implementation of: Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) Risk assessments WHS Management Plans Prepare and contribute to WHS E reporting requirements.
Assist in delivering health and safety programs that support operational and business needs.
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Experience in workplace health and safety within construction, maintenance, infrastructure, or a similar industry.
Strong understanding of workplace hazards, risk management, and control measures.
Ability to interpret and apply WHS legislation, Codes of Practice,
and Australian Standards.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Capability to work collaboratively across field-based and office-based teams.
Highly Desirable Previous WHS E experience within the construction, building maintenance, or related industries.
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
