Our client is a major Australian business responsible for managing a large-scale property portfolio and delivering complex commercial, development, retail, transport and environmental projects.
The organisation plays a critical role in connecting people, businesses and communities, while driving long-term growth, sustainability and innovation.
The legal team is highly regarded internally and works closely with senior stakeholders across the business on a broad range of strategic initiatives.
The Opportunity Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role will provide commercially focused legal advice across a diverse property portfolio, supporting retail, commercial property, development, planning and environmental matters.
You will work closely with business stakeholders to negotiate and draft key agreements, manage disputes, advise on regulatory issues and support major development projects.
The role also involves managing external counsel and ensuring legal services are delivered efficiently and cost effectively.
Key Responsibilities Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice across property, development, planning and environmental matters.
Draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of commercial and property agreements.
Support major development and infrastructure projects from a legal and risk perspective.
Manage litigation, dispute resolution processes and external legal providers.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise the business on their implications.
Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and act as a trusted adviser across the organisation.
Deliver legal training and contribute to policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced property lawyer with strong commercial judgement and the ability to build trusted relationships across a complex business.
You will bring: A law degree and current practising certificate.
A minimum of seven years' post-admission experience with a strong focus on property law.
Experience advising on commercial property, development and leasing matters.
Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to provide clear, practical and commercially sound legal advice.
A collaborative approach and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders across a large organisation.
In-house experience will be highly regarded, and candidates from leading private practice environments are also encouraged to apply.
