About the role
The Governance and Risk Officer plays a pivotal role in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance, risk, compliance and accountability frameworks that support effective decision-making and organisational performance.
This is a fixed-term opportunity for two years, working ***** hours per fortnight (or a minimum of 58.8 hours by negotiation), based in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport.
In this role you will:
Coordinate and enhance governance, compliance and accountability frameworks.
Provide high-quality governance and secretariat support to senior leaders, the Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Board, committees and key stakeholders.
Maintain critical governance, legislative and policy registers.
Support risk management, assurance and reporting activities.
Prepare clear, concise and professional reports, briefing papers and annual reporting documentation.
Contribute to continuous improvement and compliance activities through effective monitoring, reporting and record-keeping.
Our ideal candidate has
A strong understanding of governance, risk, compliance and accountability principles and frameworks.




Experience supporting boards, committees and senior stakeholders, including coordinating meetings, managing actions and contributing to governance outcomes.
Excellent written communication, report-writing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
A relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in governance, public administration, business, law, risk management, compliance or a related field.
