office is seeking internal expressions of interest for a
Practice Leader
to provide expert guidance, share social work knowledge and build capability across the team. As Practice Leader, you will focus on quality, learning and reflective practice, helping staff strengthen their work and decision-making.
This is an opportunity to influence how we work, support colleagues, and shape standards, policy and strategic planning across the organisation. Working closely with the Office Manager and Supervisors, you will respond to emerging issues, share insights and contribute to key practice discussions.
In this role, you will:
Provide practice leadership that supports high-quality, consistent practice
Build staff capability through coaching, mentoring, reflective supervision and learning
Apply expert knowledge to casework, practice matters and decision-making
Lead quality improvement activities that support continuous learning
Demonstrate cultural awareness through safe and respectful practice.

You bring significant social work experience and robust child protection expertise
You demonstrate confident leadership and the ability to influence and motivate others
You bring sound professional judgement and a commitment to reflective practice
You understand childprotection systems andtheir impact onfamilies and children
You demonstrate cultural safety and strong partnership skills across diverse communities.

Special Conditions
A degree level qualification in
Social Work
which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
