We're excited to welcome a Clinical Nurse (School based Youth Health Nurse) to our Child, Youth and Family Health Services Team.
The Clinical Nurse (CN) will lead and deliver person centred nursing care at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Registered Nurse Standards of Practice. The CN is expected to be able to practice autonomously and provide leadership in clinical decision making. They have the responsibility for professional leadership in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7 and an opportunity to work collaboratively to lead practice changes and clinical innovation.
The CN will support and enhance the capacity of state schools with secondary students to develop structures and environments that promote the health and wellbeing of young people, and to provide secondary school aged young people with access to a limited primary health care service within the school.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Support schools to use a whole of school approach to health promotion (Health Promoting Schools framework) to encourage a coordinated and comprehensive approach to the planning and implementation of school policies, programs, activities and environments.
- Act as a resource person for the school and broader community about youth health issues by providing current evidence, information and support.
- Form and review partnerships with schools through an annual Business Planning process involving Principals,
Heads of Department/Year Coordinators and other school staff to ensure that activities and services provided are relevant, appropriate, supported and resourced for effective youth health outcomes.
- Work within the School Based Youth Health Nurse Program framework by practicing in accordance with the Program principles and guidelines including the Queensland Health and Education Queensland School Based Youth Nurse Program Memorandum of Understanding and Program Management Guidelines.
Salary rates $57.76 - $61.85 p.h., (Multiple Permanent Part-time positions available, hours negotiable.), employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (NRG6.1).
