Our opportunity - Safety Partner with possibility of becoming permanent
The Safety Partner plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children, educators, and families across all centres. As the organisation grows, this role strengthens our systems and practices, ensuring consistency, compliance, and proactive safety management across all services.
This role combines compliance oversight with proactive culture-building: ensuring incidents are thoroughly investigated and corrective actions are implemented, while also embedding a strong safety mindset through coaching, training, and centre support.
By analysing incident data, conducting audits, and influencing safe environments design, the Safety Specialist helps prevent harm, reduce risk, and ensure every child and staff member is safe, supported, and protected.
About you
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ proven experience leading Safety and Compliance to deliver exceptional results.
Current QLD Working with Children Check
Experience in Early Childcare Education (desirable, not essential)
Certificate IV or WHS in early childhood, or similar desired
Skills: Leveraging your experience (preferably in a similar environment),
you are comfortable handling any safety and compliance item that comes your way, from small to serious, you are always calm and professional in your approach. Your previous experience has provided you with the tools to execute on compliance and incident management, safety audits and risk mitigation, provide meaningful data, insights and reporting, build a safety-first culture through training and development, and support organisations through rapid growth.
Your role as the Safety Partner
- Lead and support the investigation of child and staff incidents, ensuring accurate documentation, timely notifications, and effective corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, complaints, and escalations, with visibility for senior leaders.
- Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, national standards, and organisational policies across all centres.
- Manage regulatory reporting requirements and liaise with regulatory authorities regarding incidents, complaints, compliance matters, and monitoring activities.
- Support centres in preparing for regulatory visits, monitoring activities, assessments and ratings, and compliance reviews.
- Conduct regular centre safety audits (including playgrounds, secure sleep spaces, and environments),
identifying hazards and recommending improvements.
- Support facilities and maintenance teams to address hazards quickly and effectively.
- Develop and maintain a monthly safety dashboard covering incident trends, severity, and emerging risks.
- Report findings to the Risk & Compliance sub-committee where relevant.
- Deliver safety training sessions for centre teams, with a focus on relevans safety and compliance topics.
- Establish standardised safety processes and audits across all centres.
- Conduct readiness checks for new centre openings to ensure environments meet safety and regulatory standards from day one.
- Conduct risk assessments and support centres to identify, evaluate and implement controls to minimise risks to children, staff, families, and visitors.
- Support with the development, review, and maintenance of safety and compliance policies, procedures and guidance materials.
