The Role: An opportunity to shape ministry for the next generation

St Annes Anglican Church Ryde is seeking an experienced female gospel minister to join our ministry team as a full-time Assistant Minister, with a primary focus on ministry among children and their families.

This is more than a role overseeing existing children’s programs. We are looking for someone who can bring gospel conviction, ministry experience, strategic thinking and a heart for developing others as we strengthen our ministry to the next generation. You will have freedom to evaluate and develop our existing ministries, build and equip teams, disciple parents and leaders, and create stronger pathways through which children, young people and their families can come to know Jesus and grow as his disciples.

As an Assistant Minister of the whole parish, you will also have the opportunity to exercise leadership beyond the children and families portfolio. We want this part of the role to reflect your particular gifts, experience and ministry interests.

Our church family includes people from many different ages, cultures and backgrounds, united by our desire to grow as disciples of Jesus and share the good news of Christ with those around us.

We currently gather across three Sunday services: an 8am service, a 10am English-speaking service and a 10am Mandarin-speaking service.

Our existing next-generation ministries include Sunday programs for preschool and primary-aged children, Friday night youth ministry, Playgroup and connections with local families through the wider ministries of the church Beyond Sundays, St Annes has a significant presence in the local community through ministries including English classes, the Anglicare Mobile Community Pantry and a monthly Community Service Hub.

Having just celebrated 200 years of Christian ministry on our site, we are thankful for God's faithfulness in the past and excited about the opportunities before us. Over the past five years we have seen encouraging growth and are looking to strengthen our ministry structures,



develop new leaders and reach the next generation with the gospel.

St Annes is committed to the authority of Scripture, the centrality of the gospel and the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. Our ministry team works within a complementarian ministry framework, while seeking to encourage women and men to exercise their gifts as fully as possible in the life and mission of the church.

We are particularly keen for the successful candidate to bring her experience, perspective and wisdom to our ministry team and to the wider leadership and ministry of St Annes.

Your Primary Ministry — Children & Families

Your primary responsibility will be to provide vision, leadership and theological oversight for ministry among children and their families across St Annes. You will inherit existing ministries, leaders and volunteers, while having genuine scope to evaluate what we currently do and help us build healthy and sustainable ministry for the future.

This will include:

* Developing vision and strategy for effective ministry to children and their families, including solid pathways from early childhood through primary school and into youth ministry.

* Providing theological and ministry oversight of children’s ministries, including curriculum, teaching and discipleship pathways.

* Identifying, recruiting, training and discipling leaders, developing sustainable ministry teams from across our English and Mandarin speaking congregations.

* Equipping and encouraging parents as they seek to raise their children to know, trust and follow Jesus.

* Strengthening connections between children’s ministries, youth ministry, our Sunday congregations and the wider life of the church.

* Developing mission pathways through which children and families from the wider Ryde community can connect with St Annes, hear the gospel and become part of the church family.

* Building a culture of intergenerational ministry in which children and young people are known, loved and increasingly integrated into the life of the whole church.

* Developing leaders who develop others, so that our ministries are increasingly sustainable, reproducible and equipped for future growth.





Whole-Church Ministry

While children and families will be your primary portfolio, you will be an Assistant Minister to the whole parish.

We are particularly interested in appointing an experienced minister who can bring her wisdom, perspective and ministry experience to the broader leadership and direction of St Annes. Rather than predetermining every aspect of this part of the position, we would like to shape it in conversation with the successful candidate according to her gifts, experience and interests. Depending on your gifts and experience, this could include contributing to whole-church strategy and annual planning; strengthening prayer and pastoral care across our English and Mandarin speaking congregations; developing welcoming and integration pathways; or equipping and developing women for ministry and leadership.

About You

- have a mature Christian faith and a life shaped by the gospel of Jesus Christ;
- have demonstrated a commitment to seeing people come to know Christ and grow as his disciples;
- have relevant tertiary theological training;
- are experienced in ministry to children and their families;
- are able to think strategically about ministry rather than simply maintain existing programs;
- communicate learly with with children, parents, volunteers, ministry leaders and the wide church
- are comfortable ministering across different ages, cultures, and backgrounds
- love to work in a team; and
- have the right to live and work in Australia.
