Disability Support Worker – Hallett Cove, SA
Join Our Team – Complex Support Role

We are seeking strong, compassionate, and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team in Hallett Cove, South Australia.

This is a temporary casual opportunity supporting a client with complex behaviours and high support needs. We are looking for workers who are confident, resilient, patient, and able to build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and a secure environment.

Both male and female support workers are encouraged to apply.

About the Role

This role involves supporting a client with complex behavioural and psychosocial needs, including:

- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
- Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)
- Trauma-related needs
- Severe attachment difficulties
- Antisocial and destructive behaviours
- Highly sexualised and inappropriate behaviours
- Verbal and physical aggression
- Threats and intimidation
- Property damage
- Absconding
- Suicidal ideation
- Fire-setting
- Animal cruelty
- History of serious threats and violence

This is a highly complex support environment, so previous experience working with complex behaviours is essential.

Key Responsibilities

As a Disability Support Worker, you will:

- Provide person-centred support while maintaining the client's dignity, safety, and wellbeing.
- Assist with daily living activities and personal care where required.
- Support positive behavioural strategies and encourage independence.
- Build a trusting and respectful relationship with the client.
- Positively engage, mentor, and interact with the client during challenging situations.
- Respond appropriately and professionally to complex and potentially high-risk behaviours.
- Support community access and meaningful activities.
- Monitor and report changes in behaviour, wellbeing, and support needs.
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation.




- Work collaboratively with the broader support team and follow established support plans and organisational procedures.

What We're Looking For

Non-Negotiable:

- Previous experience working with complex behaviours.
- A mental health and/or trauma-informed background.
- At least 2 years of consistent experience in the community services sector, such as:DisabilityChild & YouthMental HealthAged CareNursing
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written English.
- Experience supporting individuals with challenging or high-risk behaviours.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while remaining calm, respectful, and compassionate.
- Confidence working in situations involving aggression, threats, inappropriate behaviours, and emotional dysregulation.

Highly Desirable:

- Previous experience working with children and young people.
- Experience supporting clients with ASD, FASD, RAD, trauma, or complex mental health needs.
- Experience working with sexualised or inappropriate behaviours.
- Relevant disability, community services, mental health, youth work, or nursing qualifications.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.

This is not a standard support role. Due to the complexity of the support environment, we are specifically seeking experienced workers who are confident working with complex behaviours and can provide safe, respectful, and consistent support.
