Hays is partnering with a well-established and growing Australian business to recruit an experienced accounts payable professional. This is a rare opportunity for a senior accounts payable professional who enjoys balancing strategic ownership with hands-on involvement. You will take full responsibility for the AP function while remaining close to the day-to-day operations, troubleshooting complex issues and supporting your team through peak periods.

Your new role

- Owning and improving end-to-end accounts payable processes across multiple business units
- Managing payment controls, approval workflows and supplier master data integrity
- Monitoring creditor days and supporting working capital objectives
- Ensuring compliance with relevant tax, reporting and regulatory requirements
- Leading month-end AP activities, reconciliations and audit support
- Investigating complex transactional and system-related issues
- Partnering with operational stakeholders to improve purchasing and approval disciplines
- Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing accounts payable team
- Supporting ERP, automation and continuous improvement projects

What you'll need to succeed

- Proven experience leading an Accounts Payable function within a high-volume, multi-entity workplace.



However this role would also suit a Senior/Team Leader looking to make the next step in their career.
- Strong understanding of payment controls, compliance requirements and fraud prevention
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing AP teams
- Strong reconciliation and analytical capabilities
- The ability to influence stakeholders and challenge processes where required
- A hands-on approach with the willingness to work in detail when needed
- Experience within industrial, construction, mining services, wholesale or similar environments will be highly regarded
