Hands-on farm mechanic role with real variety—keep a large mixed farming operation running across cropping, cattle and transport.

- Primary responsibility for maintaining a large, varied fleet across cropping, cattle and transport operations.

Condamine is in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, a productive agricultural area known for broadacre cropping and cattle enterprises. Our client is a family owned and operated mixed farming enterprise running approximately 9,000 acres of dryland country west of Condamine. The business includes a stud Hereford cattle enterprise, a commercial Black Angus cow-calf operation, and a diverse cropping program growing wheat, chickpeas and barley in winter, and sorghum and mung beans in summer. The operation maintains and repairs a wide range of equipment in-house, including John Deere machinery, Boss planters, and freight trucks including Western Star units with crates and tippers. The business values practical mechanical knowledge, reliability, and the ability to work independently.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Farm Manager/Owner and will suit an experienced and well-rounded mechanic who is confident working independently and maintaining structured service schedules.



The role also requires assisting with machinery operations during peak periods such as planting and harvest. This position is available to start as soon as a suitable candidate is identified.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

- Oversee and implement maintenance plans for all farm machinery, vehicles and trucks.
- Conduct scheduled servicing, repairs, fabrication and breakdown maintenance across properties.
- Assist with machinery operations, including chaser bin work during peak seasons.
- Maintain accurate service schedules and ensure equipment reliability across cropping and livestock operations.

Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrated experience in mechanical repairs, with skills in fabrication, boiler making or auto electrical highly regarded.
- Ability to work autonomously with robust attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong work ethic with honesty, reliability and good communication skills.
- Trade qualification and/or MC licence highly regarded but not essential.

- Accommodation provided on farm at the Condamine property (house and power included).
- Work ute and toolboxes supplied (own tools highly regarded).
- Standard hours 7:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday, with extended hours during planting and harvest.
