Behaviour Support Practitioner
Full-time or part-time | Hybrid Work From Home – Springwood or Caboolture Offices when needed | Greater Brisbane, Ipswich & South Brisbane
We are looking for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team, with a degree in Psychology, Social Work or equivalent. We want someone who is compassionate and enthused about delivering high-quality person-centered care to their clients.
We are also looking to recruit a Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner to guide and mentor a small team of practitioners while carrying a focused, specialised caseload of your own. If you have experience in delivering behaviour support, and love the clinical work but also feel called to lift up the people around you, then this role is for you.
Both Behaviour Support Practitioner & Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner positions suit provisional psychologists and allied health professionals with a background in behaviour support. We're proud to offer internal board-approved secondary supervision for the 4+2 and 5+1 programs.
The positions will suit someone looking for part-time or full-time employment.
Who we are
Positive Futures Queensland is a small practice delivering high-quality, holistic support to people in the NDIS. We genuinely care about our team — if our people are happy and safe at work, the quality of what we deliver follows. We work in a hybrid way, mixing office, home and mobile services, so you'll have real flexibility in how you structure your week.
What you'll be doing
- Developing plans.
Write Comprehensive and Interim Behaviour Support Plans that meet the NDIS Commission's requirements around Restrictive Practices.
- Delivering person-centred support. Carry a varied, complex caseload across the community and our offices, supported by a multidisciplinary team.
- Sharing your expertise. Train and advise stakeholder teams on best practice, Restrictive Practices, and the relevant QLD legislation and national guidelines.
- Assessing and reviewing. Complete adaptive behaviour and functional assessments (and diagnostic/cognitive assessments if within your scope), and evaluate strategies with families and stakeholders through regular reviews.
- Collaborating widely. Liaise with clients, allied health, carers, families, and government departments — and provide counselling or psychosocial skill development where it sits within your qualifications.
Why you'll want to join us
- Manageable KPIs & reduced client workload, so you can focus on quality service.
- Supervision from Advanced and Specialist practitioners, plus access to both individual and group supervision.
- A caseload matched to your skills, interests and preferred areas — we work around what suits you.
- Full admin support, a laptop and devices, and mileage for any mobile travel.
- Onsite board-approved secondary supervision as a provisional psychologist, if relevant.
- Real professional development opportunities, and a team that celebrates its wins — regular social events and a genuine commitment to work-life balance.
What we're looking for
- A relevant tertiary degree (Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Counselling, Social Welfare, Disability, Teaching or Social Sciences).
- To be considered for the Senior Behaviour Support Practitioner role, ideally you will have at least 2 years' experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner or in an equivalent role, and preferably already registered as Advanced or Specialist with the NDIS Commission, or explicit evidence you're working towards it. In addition to experience supervising or coaching other practitioners (preferred).
- Experience with complex clients, including people with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and non-verbal clients.
- Excellent report writing and clinical writing skills.
- Warm, fair and effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Registration with the relevant governing body where appropriate (AHPRA, Ed QLD, AASW, etc.). Provisional registration is suitable.
- A reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to clients and stakeholders as needed (mileage covered).
- Right to Work (Australia) - Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia. Proof of entitlement may be required as part of the recruitment process. This includes Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid visa with work rights.
