TAMS-AC is seeking a motivated and organised Visiting Specialist Coordinator to join our team. This role plays an important part in ensuring our community has access to specialist health services by coordinating visiting specialist clinics, supporting patients through their healthcare journey, and working closely with specialist providers and healthcare teams.

Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service - Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC) provides culturally appropriate preventative primary healthcare services designed to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people across Tamworth and surrounding communities.

About the Role

The Visiting Specialist Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating visiting specialist clinics to ensure patients receive timely, high-quality care. The role acts as a key liaison between patients, visiting specialists, healthcare providers, and internal teams to support positive health outcomes and efficient service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

- Coordinate and manage Visiting Specialist Clinics.

- Review referrals and schedule specialist appointments.





- Support patients to access specialist services and external referrals.

- Liaise with Visiting Specialists, healthcare providers, hospitals, and community services.

- Provide administrative support before, during, and after specialist clinics.

- Maintain accurate patient records, appointment schedules, and reports.

- Complete funding, activity, and service reports.

- Follow up with patients to support continuity of care.

- Support Visiting Specialists with Medicare claiming processes when required.

- Ensure all work is completed in line with TAMS-AC policies, confidentiality requirements, and quality standards.

- Contribute to a positive team culture and provide support for organisational events and activities when required.

About You

Essential:

- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal people and communities.

- Robust communication and relationship-building skills.

- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

- Experience using Microsoft Office and electronic record systems.





- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

- An understanding of Aboriginal cultures, communities, and health issues.

- A professional approach with a strong commitment to confidentiality.

- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

- Current National Police Check.

- Current NSW Driver Licence.

Desirable:

- Previous experience in a healthcare, administration or coordination role.

- Experience coordinating specialist clinics, patient appointments, or referral pathways.

- Knowledge of Medicare processes and healthcare funding programs.

- Understanding of primary health care services and patient management systems.

- Local knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal communities within the Tamworth region.

- Willingness to undertake further professional development and training.
