About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager to join our Governance, Risk & Compliance team based in Marrickville.

The Governance, Risk & Compliance team plays a critical role in supporting MTC's long-term success by partnering with the business to strengthen governance, risk management, compliance, quality, continuous improvement and workplace safety. Together, we help ensure MTC operates with confidence, integrity and a commitment to delivering positive outcomes for our people, customers and communities.

Reporting to the General Manager, Governance, Risk & Compliance, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of MTC Group’s WHS framework and programs across MTC FutureReady (MTCFR) and MTC Recruitment Limited (MTC RL). Working closely with leaders across both entities, you will provide specialist advice and support to drive proactive risk management, injury prevention, workers compensation, psychosocial safety and wellbeing initiatives, while fostering a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

- Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of MTC Group’s WHS framework, policies and management systems.
- Providing expert WHS advice and guidance to leaders, managers and employees across MTC Group, supporting both MTCFR and MTC RL operations.
- Driving a positive safety culture through stakeholder engagement, coaching and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Preparing and presenting WHS reports, metrics, risk analysis and compliance updates to senior leadership and governance committees.
- Monitoring and interpreting WHS legislation, regulations and industry developments to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.
- Facilitating internal and external WHS audits and overseeing the implementation of corrective actions.
- Managing WHS governance processes,



including WHS Committee meetings, reporting and action tracking.
- Leading hazard identification, risk assessments and the implementation of effective risk controls.
- Investigating incidents, injuries and near misses and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are effectively implemented.
- Overseeing workers compensation and injury management programs, including return-to-work and rehabilitation processes.
- Collaborating with insurers, rehabilitation providers, medical practitioners and regulatory authorities to support positive injury management outcomes.
- Analysing WHS and claims data to identify trends and implementing initiatives that reduce workplace injuries and risks.
- Developing and delivering WHS training, education and awareness programs that build organisational capability.
- Partnering with People & Culture to deliver wellbeing initiatives, including psychosocial risk management and employee wellbeing programs.
- Partnering with leaders across MTC FutureReady and MTC Recruitment Limited to ensure a consistent, enterprise-wide approach to workplace health, safety, wellbeing and compliance.
- About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a WHS leadership, management or specialist role.
- Robust knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience developing, implementing and improving WHS systems, policies and programs.
- Sound knowledge of risk management, incident investigation and audit processes.
- Experience managing workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work programs.
- Experience managing psychosocial risks and workplace wellbeing initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence, coach and build effective relationships at all levels.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills, with the ability to present information and insights to senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret WHS data and identify trends.




- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- A current Driver Licence.
