About the Role Skillforce Recruitment is seeking an experienced Crane Technician to join our client, a long-standing and highly regarded overhead crane servicing specialist in Kewdale. This temp-to-perm chance is ideal for a hands-on technician looking to prove their skills and settle into a stable, long-term role with a business that prides itself on safety, quality and customer loyalty.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, repair and overhaul overhead cranes, hoists and jib cranes across all makes and models
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults through inspection, testing and diagnostic equipment
- Carry out scheduled maintenance (1, 3, 6 and 12-month servicing) and 24/7 breakdown repairs
- Replace worn or defective components, including wire ropes and lifting gear
- Test equipment post-repair to confirm safe, compliant operation
- Complete accurate technical and maintenance reporting, and order replacement parts as needed
- Perform major compliance inspections in line with AS2550 and WorkSafe standards
- Travel to customer sites across the Perth metro and regional WA as required
Skills & Experience Required
- Western Australian Electrical Licence (essential)
- Minimum 2-5 years' experience in crane, hoist or heavy equipment servicing
- High Risk Work Licence
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Certificate
- Work Safely at Heights Certificate
- Forklift Licence
- Construction Induction (White Card)
- WA Class C Driver's Licence
- Must be able to complete a Drug & Alcohol Screen (DAS) and pre-employment medical
Technical Skills
- Electrical and mechanical fault-finding and repair (motors, controls, panels, gearboxes, bearings)
- Wire rope and lifting gear inspection and replacement
- Confident use of diagnostic tools (multimeter, clamp meter, micrometer, calibration equipment)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
- Strong grasp of lockout/tagout and safe work procedures
- Comfortable working across workshop, warehouse, yard and industrial site environments
