Location: Tamworth, NSW

COULD THIS BE YOU?

We are seeking a motivated professional with experience in regulatory compliance, conflict resolution and customer service. You will have strong interpersonal and written communication skills together with the ability to interpret and enforce legislation in a local government context. You will be confident working independently, managing investigations, preparing detailed reports and supporting community education and enforcement programs.

The Community Safety Officer is responsible for:

- Provide operational service in responding to non–compliance issues under a wide range of legislation relevant to Authorised Officers under the Local Government Act and other Acts delegated to Council
- Respond to and investigate complaints including illegal dumping, illegal advertising and abandoned vehicles
- Respond to unlawful use of public land, animal complaints within the Companion Animals Act and non-compliance or safety issues relating to use of public areas
- Assisting the Environmental Health and Compliance team in the investigation of Environmental Health and Compliance complaints utilising the range of legislation administered by the team.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

- Certificate IV in Local Government (Governance and Administration) for Law Enforcement Officers or similar
- HSC or equivalent work experience in a relevant industry.
- Current Drivers Licence
- Ability to respond to and investigate public safety matters with professionalism and objectivity
- Immunisation against Hepatitis and Tetanus (or willingness to obtain)
- Protection of the Environment – Authorised Officers Course (Desirable)

Salary range:



Grade 12 - $78,038.27 - $84,440.58 per year plus 12% superannuation, applicable allowances and a leaseback vehicle for a 38 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
