About the role

This is a hands-on role in a busy roadhouse kitchen where you'll be involved in food preparation, cooking, customer orders, catering and keeping the kitchen running smoothly.

The position requires someone who can work at pace, contribute to the team and take pride in producing fresh, consistent food.

The Werrigar Roadhouse is a fast-paced roadhouse environment servicing a broad range of local customers and travelers.

You'll be actively involved in preparing and cooking food, getting orders out efficiently, supporting catering requirements and helping make sure the kitchen is ready for service.

Key responsibilities

- Cooking food using the grill, fryer and other kitchen equipment

- Preparing ingredients and food for service

- Preparing customer orders quickly and consistently

- Assisting with outside catering orders

- Preparing coffee orders when required

- Assisting with kitchen stock ordering

- Checking deliveries and putting stock away

- Monitoring food temperatures and food safety requirements

- Keeping kitchen work areas clean and organised

- Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen cleanliness throughout the shift

About you

- Has previous cooking, café, takeaway or commercial kitchen experience





- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

- Can work efficiently when the kitchen gets busy

- Works with urgency while maintaining food quality

- Is reliable and takes responsibility for their shifts

- Communicates well and works effectively as part of a team

- Takes pride in cleanliness, hygiene and presentation

- Is willing to learn and participate in in-house training program

- Can use initiative and work without constant supervision

- Is physically capable of working on their feet for extended periods
