The Opportunity
Our workshops are critical to keeping our services running safely and reliably and we are currently seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Regional Workshop Manager to lead our Seaford & Rosebud workshop operations.
You will be responsible for the overall performance, safety and operational success of both workshops. Leading a team of experienced technicians, supervisors and apprentices, you will drive maintenance excellence while ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant and available to meet operational demands.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a motivated workshop professional looking to oversee multiple locations, contribute to initiatives and play a key role in supporting public transport across Melbourne’s growing Peninsula region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the workshops and fleet support activities across Seaford and Rosebud
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to workshop supervisors, tradespeople and apprentices
- Drive a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
- Ensure preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs are completed efficiently to maximise fleet available and minimise downtime.
- Work closely with Depot Managers and operational teams to balance maintenance schedules with service delivery requirements
- Monitor workshop performance, labour utilisation and maintenance costs to achieve operations targets
- Oversee workshop inventory and parts management to ensure parts availability and cost control
- Conduct toolbox meetings and support ongoing employee development and training initiatives
- Manage rostering, workforce planning and timesheet approvals across both sites
- Coordinate internal and external repairs while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and within budget
- Investigate and resolve complex workshop and fleet-related issues
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, productivity gains and enhanced maintenance practices
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven leadership experience within a heavy vehicle, transport, automotive or fleet maintenance environment
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor and develop diverse teams
- Experience managing multi-site workshop operations or large maintenance teams
- Excellent understanding of heavy vehicle maintenance practices
- Strong planning, organisational and problem solving abilities
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirement within a workshop environment
- A current drivers licence
