Your new role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior / Lead Power Systems Engineer to join a specialist technical team responsible for delivering advanced network studies and supporting key planning and connection decisions.
This role can be tailored to suit either an experienced Senior Engineer looking to take the next step or an established Lead Engineer seeking greater influence across major network and infrastructure projects. You'll provide technical expertise across power system analysis, transmission planning and generation connections, helping shape future network capability and support the successful integration of current energy infrastructure.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead advanced power system studies across steady-state, dynamic and electromagnetic transient (EMT) domains
- Assess system strength, stability and network capability impacts for new and existing connections
- Develop and maintain network models using PowerFactory
- Provide technical advice on large-scale generation and major customer connections
- Support network planning decisions, development strategies and long-term investment planning
- Contribute to business cases and technical assessments that influence future network capability
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve complex engineering challenges
- Balance technical, commercial and operational considerations to achieve practical outcomes
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentorship across the broader engineering team
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Significant experience in power systems engineering within utilities, transmission, consulting or renewable energy sectors
- Strong capability in power system studies and network modelling using PowerFactory
- Experience in transmission planning, generator connections and network performance assessments
- Understanding of power system stability, system strength and network capability
- Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring and stakeholder influence experience will be highly regarded
- Eligibility for CPEng and/or NER registration (desirable)
