Qualified / Experienced Management Accountant

We are seeking a motivated Management Accountant to join our team at our Belmont office. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely and meaningful financial and operational reporting to support business decision-making.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants genuine ownership of the management accounting function. You'll work closely with finance and operational leadership, providing the financial insight and project-level visibility that drives sound decision-making.

If you have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role or a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related-discipline with 2 years' relevant experience, we would like to hear from you.

Responsibilities include:

- Maintain daily cashflow information across multiple entities, including receipts, direct debits, debtor and creditor positions, and billing-card records.

- Process receipts and banking transactions, investigate unreconciled items and follow up with the relevant business units.

- Prepare creditor payment runs, BPAY and international payments; upload bank files and coordinate approvals with directors and managers.

- Complete bank reconciliations for development companies and support accurate, timely cash reporting.

- Complete assigned month-end processes, including general ledger reviews, branch-code checks, intercompany journals and balance-sheet reconciliations.

- Prepare owner statements, internal rent invoices and related journals across operating and development entities.

- Manage credit-card and AMEX transaction processing, including intercompany allocations and journals.

- Identify anomalies, incomplete transactions and control issues, and work with the relevant teams to resolve them.

- Prepare and lodge BAS and other ATO returns in line with the group compliance schedule.





- Support year-end close through general-ledger reconciliations, taxable payments annual reporting, land tax and council-rate processing.

- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation suitable for review and audit.

- Provide responsive accounting support to directors, managers and employees across the group.

- Assist accounts payable, debtors and other finance activities during peak periods and staff leave.

- Maintain finance-related registers and coordinate new business credit-card requests and system access.

- Look for practical opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen controls and improve the timeliness and quality of information.

What competencies are we looking for?

- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role and/or a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related-discipline with 2 years' relevant experience

- Working towards a CPA/CA (highly regarded but not essential)

- Demonstrated experience in a management accounting, senior accounting or broad commercial finance role

- Strong hands-on capability across, cashflow, reconciliations, month-end close, statutory compliance and general-ledger accounting.

- Experience working across multiple entities, cost centres or business divisions.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with accounting, payroll and reporting systems.

- A high level of accuracy, organisation and ownership, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines without losing sight of ad hoc priorities.

- Sound judgement, discretion and care when handling banking and confidential employee information.

- Explicit written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to follow up managers, employees and external parties.

Experience with the following would be advantageous, although training can be provided:
