A rare opportunity to build and lead the architecture function for a brand-new, large-scale transformation program, from the ground up, with no legacy baggage attached.
This is a genuinely senior mandate. You'll be the architecture lead for a multi-year transformation, reporting directly into the Head of Architecture, and will be responsible for standing up an entirely new project stream, leading a team of architects across solution, integration, data and security disciplines.
The role
- Own the architecture strategy and delivery roadmap for a major, multi-year transformation program, running current and future systems in parallel through transition
- Lead detailed gap analysis and design work from day one, this program is at the very start, with foundational decisions on target architecture, vendor engagement and business case still ahead
- Lead and coordinate a team of around 6 architects across solution, integration, data and security
- Drive stakeholder engagement and buy-in across the business, this program needs solid internal advocacy to get the focus it deserves, so high-calibre stakeholder management is essential
- Within your first 6 months, you'll be sitting across the table from vendors in design meetings, briefing and directing them directly
About you
- 15+ years' experience, with a genuine track record leading major transformation programs at Program/Chief/Lead Architect level
- Background in billing systems highly regarded, ideally within a highly regulated industry
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, this is ground-floor, pre-business-case,
and you'll help shape how the program itself will run
- A strong communicator and natural leader, this role is as much about people and stakeholder management as it is technical depth
- Experience across cloud and on-premises environments, with a transparent point of view on strategy and trade-offs at that level
The details
- 12-month initial contract, with a 5-year program of work ahead
- 3 days per week in office (non-negotiable)
- Start date: October / November.
If this sounds like the kind of mandate where you can genuinely build something from scratch and shape it your way, get in touch.
