TCAP is a commercial and strategic advisory firm working closely with public and private sector clients across Australia. We support clients across the full project and asset lifecycle - from strategy, service needs and business case development, through procurement and commercial structuring, to operations and contract management.

Our public sector clients include Federal, State and Local Governments agencies across transport, education, justice, defence, health and central functions. We support our private sector clients in the pursuit to secure major contracts with government organisations and help them navigate major strategic initiatives and projects.
About the Role
This role is offered at Consultant or Senior Consultant level. Depending on experience, the level of responsibility, autonomy and technical complexity will scale accordingly.
With TCAP, you will work on a diverse set of complex and impactful projects where you and your contribution is highly visible to the client and the internal leadership team. You will leverage your existing analytical skillset, your curiosity and creativity to find solutions for our clients that will have a meaningful impact on their strategic direction and the stakeholders they serve.
This role is well suited to someone with experience in consulting, government or industry who is looking to grow their career with a team that invests in relationships, respect and delivering excellence for our clients.
We are seeking applicants that ideally have a blend of strategic and commercial/financial advisory experience and technical skillsets, and who have a proactive attitude and a desire for growth in both these areas.
Working with both our Sydney and Melbourne offices, you’ll be trusted with real responsibility early. In the role, you will be supported by experienced managers and work directly with Partners who take an active role in delivery and are invested in your development.
Key Responsibilities
Project delivery
- Contribute to advisory engagements across the project lifecycle, including strategy development, options analysis, business case preparation, procurement and commercial strategy, tender design and evaluation, and delivery and transition planning.
- Prepare high-quality quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform client deliverables and investment and policy decisions.
- Support the day-to-day leadership of workstreams, with increasing ownership at Senior Consultant level.
- Engage with client stakeholders and contribute to the facilitation of workshops and interviews alongside your team.
Commercial and Strategic advisory
- Define problems and opportunities and articulate the need for project investment or policy changes.
- Support setting project objectives and map links between proposed investment and desired outcomes.
- Analyse the current state and scope a range of project options.
- Assess and shortlist options, including assessing alignment to strategic objectives, financial and economic impact, and risks.
- Develop and review economic, financial and commercial models, commensurate with experience.
- Undertake commercial and financial analysis, including market assessments, value-for-money analysis and risk assessment.
- Support the development of procurement and transaction strategies for infrastructure and services projects.
- Assist with tender evaluations, contract strategy and transaction execution activities.
Learning, collaboration and growth
- Work closely with senior team members and Partners, learning through direct involvement in client engagements.
- Take part in internal knowledge sharing, capability building and project reviews.
- At Senior Consultant level, coach junior team members and take on greater responsibility for quality assurance and delivery.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture.
About You
You are a well-rounded,
and analytical professional with:
- Typically, 3–5 years’ experience in consulting, government or industry roles related to strategic and/or commercial advisory, infrastructure projects, transactions, procurement or public sector projects (role level aligned to experience and capability).
- Strong analytical skills and (ideally) experience in deploying decision-making frameworks and methods such as cost-benefit analysis, multi-criteria analysis, discounted cash flow analysis and other investment decision making approaches.
- Experience (or developing capability) in areas such as business cases, procurement strategy or transaction advisory.
- Strong quantitative skills, with experience in developing financial and/or economic models and analysing data.
- The ability to translate technical details and modelling outputs into summary materials for both technical and executive-level audiences.
- Experience developing high-quality presentation materials for stakeholder engagement and documentation, including summary charts, graphs and infographics.
- The ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and in discussions with team members and clients.
- A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Qualifications in business, economics, commerce, engineering, law or a related field.
