Morwell | Full Time | Fixed Term (16/11/26 - 28/05/27)

Band 7: $56.57 - $62.94

Hybrid working arrangements, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office as part of our approach to collaboration and team connection

We’re looking for a Coordinator Safety and Wellbeing to join our People and Culture team. In this role, you'll lead and shape Council's approach to workplace safety, injury management and child safety, helping to create a safe, supportive and positive environment for our people and the community.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced safety professional who is ready to broaden their leadership experience, influence organisational culture and contribute to strategic outcomes across the organisation. You'll work closely with leaders at all levels, mentor a specialist team and drive initiatives that have a lasting impact on the wellbeing of our workforce

What You’ll Be Doing

- Leading the delivery and continuous improvement of Council's safety, wellbeing, injury management and child safety programs.
- Providing trusted advice and support to leaders and employees on workplace safety,



compliance and wellbeing matters.
- Driving a positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring and influencing safe work practices across the organisation.
- Monitoring legislative compliance and reviewing policies, processes and procedures to ensure best practice.
- Analysing safety and wellbeing data and preparing reports for Executive and key stakeholders.
- Leading and supporting a small specialist team to achieve business plan objectives and continuous improvement outcomes.

About You You are a collaborative and influential leader who is passionate about creating safe and healthy workplaces. You enjoy partnering with leaders, solving complex problems and helping others build their capability and understanding of safety and wellbeing practices. You bring strong experience in workplace safety, injury management and/or child safety, along with the ability to interpret legislation, develop practical solutions and provide trusted advice across a large and diverse organisation. You are comfortable working strategically while remaining hands-on when needed and have a proven ability to build positive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

Key Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated experience in workplace health and safety management within Local Government or a similarly complex organisation.
- Strong ability to provide professional advice and guidance on OHS, risk, injury management,



return to work and child safe matters.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence culture, drive continuous improvement and build capability in others.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in OHS (or equivalent experience), together with a current driver's licence
