Founding Scientific Advisor — Cybernetics & Complex Systems

M∞ Venture

M∞ is seeking expressions of interest from a distinguished cybernetician, systems scientist or senior academic to join the venture in a foundational scientific advisory capacity.

This is an chance to contribute at an early and formative stage to the development of an ambitious new venture concerned with the architecture of systematic intelligence, adaptive systems, epistemic engineering and advanced decision systems.

M∞ is exploring a fundamental question:

How can intelligent systems be designed not simply to process information, but to observe, interpret, regulate, learn and adapt recursively within complex and uncertain environments?

To help advance this work, we are seeking an individual with deep expertise in cybernetics and complex systems who can provide intellectual leadership across the theoretical, mathematical and architectural foundations of the venture.

Areas of particular interest include:

- Second-, third- and higher-order cybernetics
- Recursive, self-referential and adaptive systems
- Complex adaptive systems and emergence
- Feedback, regulation and control
- Organisational cybernetics and viable systems
- Systems dynamics and computational modelling
- Human–machine and socio-technical systems
- Epistemic systems and knowledge architectures
- Artificial intelligence and autonomous systems
- Decision-making under uncertainty
- System-of-systems architectures The Role The Founding Scientific Advisor would work directly with the M∞ venture leadership to critically examine and strengthen its underlying theoretical framework, identify scientific and technical challenges, guide research priorities,



and contribute to the translation of cybernetic principles into a coherent architecture capable of future implementation.

The advisor may also contribute to the formation of an interdisciplinary scientific and technical network around M∞ as the venture progresses.

We are particularly interested in individuals who have demonstrated intellectual leadership through doctoral or postdoctoral research, professorial appointments, internationally recognised scholarship, advanced R&D; leadership, or substantial professional contributions to cybernetics, systems science or complex systems engineering.

Experience spanning multiple disciplines — including mathematics, computer science, engineering, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, philosophy of systems or organisational science — would be highly regarded.

A Foundational Opportunity

This is not a conventional recruitment process.

M∞ is seeking a small number of individuals capable of challenging assumptions, interrogating first principles and helping establish the intellectual foundations upon which the venture can be built.

The initial engagement may be structured as a Founding Scientific Advisor, strategic research collaborator or senior technical advisor, with the potential for the relationship to evolve alongside the research, development and commercialisation of M∞.

For the right individual, this represents an opportunity to contribute not simply to a technology project, but to the formation of a new systems architecture and its underlying scientific framework.
