We are partnering with a Queensland government client to support them in recruiting for an AO6 Senior Communications Advisor position, based in the North Coast Region.
About the Role
The North Coast Region is delivering some of Queensland's most significant transport infrastructure projects, including a major metro-scale road upgrade and a river interchange upgrade.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications Advisor (AO6) to play a pivotal role within the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of major project delivery, partnering closely with project teams, contractors and stakeholders to support the successful delivery of transformational infrastructure projects on the Sunshine Coast.
This role will lead communications and engagement activities for designated project packages, working collaboratively across the department and contractor delivery teams to ensure a coordinated, proactive and community-focused approach. As a trusted advisor, you will provide strategic communications support throughout the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on construction delivery, stakeholder management and issue resolution.
If you thrive in dynamic project environments, enjoy building strong relationships and can confidently navigate the intersection between government, contractors and the community, we'd love to hear from you.
Why Work on the Coast?

- Make a Visible Impact: Your work will directly influence how communities, stakeholders and customers experience major infrastructure delivery.
- Stunning Location: Live and work where others holiday, from world-class beaches to vibrant communities.
Your Key Responsibilities

- Act as a key communications interface between the department and contractor delivery teams, ensuring consistent, accurate and timely communication.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with contractors, project teams, government agencies, local councils, businesses, community groups and impacted stakeholders.
- Provide strategic advice to project managers and contractor representatives on communications, engagement, reputation management and emerging issues.
- Quality check communications, engagement and consultation products prepared by the department and contractor teams to ensure alignment with departmental standards, project requirements and best practice.
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of construction communications, including project notifications, community engagement activities, stakeholder briefings and issue management responses.
- Support the identification and mitigation of stakeholder and community risks associated with project delivery.
- Contribute to an integrated program approach by aligning communications activities across project packages, delivery teams and contractor interfaces.
- Monitor community sentiment and stakeholder feedback and provide recommendations to support informed project decision-making.
- Represent the department in meetings with contractors, stakeholders and community representatives as required.
About You
You'll be successful in this role if you have:
- Demonstrated experience delivering communications and stakeholder engagement activities within a contractor-delivered, alliance, joint venture or major infrastructure project environment.
- Experience working within integrated project teams comprising multiple organisations, disciplines and delivery partners.
- Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including translating complex technical information into clear, accessible messaging.
- Sound judgement and experience managing issues, risks and sensitive stakeholder matters in quick-paced environments.
