Join the Emergency Department at Kurri Kurri District Hospital, a valued part of the Lower Hunter community serving Kurri Kurri, Abermain, Weston and Heddon Greta. This is an opportunity to join a supportive team where you can use your clinical skills across a diverse range of presentations while developing your emergency nursing experience. Whether you're an experienced Emergency Department nurse or a Registered Nurse looking to expand your skills, you'll be supported through a structured orientation and buddy program, guidance from experienced nursing staff and the Nurse Unit Manager, and access to ongoing education and professional development.
Morning and afternoon shifts are available, providing an opportunity to build your emergency nursing experience while maintaining flexibility.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will:
- Provide safe, timely and person-centred nursing care to patients presenting with a broad range of conditions.
- Conduct clinical assessments and monitor patients, recognising and escalating changes in condition.
- Respond to emergency presentations and provide appropriate nursing interventions within your scope of practice.
- Prioritise and manage competing clinical needs in a busy emergency environment.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and effectively.
- Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health teams to support positive patient outcomes.
- Provide clear communication, education and reassurance to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to safe patient flow.
- Participate in ongoing education, professional development and quality improvement activities.
