About the role
Complete Nursing & Home Care QLD is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis. This role is based around the Gold Coast region and offers the flexibility of casual work whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be at the heart of our mission to provide high-quality, person-centred support to clients with varying needs and abilities. This role is essential to our organisation's commitment to empowering individuals to live as independently as possible and achieve their personal goals.
Key responsibilities
Provide personal care and support services to clients with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities such as hygiene, grooming, dressing and meal preparation
- Support clients in accessing community services, recreational activities and social opportunities to promote independence and social inclusion
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of client support activities, progress and any concerns or incidents
- Communicate effectively with clients, their families and the broader care team to ensure coordinated and consistent support
- Promote and respect client dignity, privacy and rights in all interactions and care activities
- Follow all relevant policies, procedures and health and safety protocols to ensure a safe care environment
- Build positive relationships with clients based on trust, respect and understanding of their individual needs
What we're looking for
A compassionate approach with genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities
- Relevant experience in aged care or disability care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse clients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative when required
- Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- A valid Working with Children Check and/or Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable transport and valid Australian driver's licence preferred
- Experience with supporting participants with epilepsy and diabetes
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required for casual work
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding skilled boundaries
- Patience, empathy and a non-judgemental attitude towards clients with diverse backgrounds and needs
