About the role
As the Advanced Speech Pathologist – Tracheostomy Management Service, you will deliver advanced clinical speech pathology services to adult patients with tracheostomies in a major tertiary hospital environment. Working as part of an expert multidisciplinary Tracheostomy Management Service (TMS) and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital Speech Pathology Department, you will provide specialist clinical leadership and high-level decision making to support patients with complex swallowing, communication, and tracheostomy management needs.
You will play a key role in driving evidence-based practice, service improvement, education, and research initiatives while providing strategic direction to support consistent, coordinated tracheostomy care. Through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to improved patient outcomes, enhanced patient experiences, and sustainable service delivery across the hospital.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provide advanced speech pathology assessment, intervention, and consultancy services for adult patients with tracheostomies across the hospital.
- Lead the development and maintenance of tracheostomy competency, education, and training programs for speech pathologists and multidisciplinary staff.
- Provide specialist clinical leadership and expert advice to support evidence-based tracheostomy management and service delivery.
- Drive quality improvement, research, and change management initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service performance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to develop clinical resources, pathways, policies, and best practice standards.
