Join Aspen Medical’s Defence & National Security team in a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for shaping and strengthening clinical governance across a complex national healthcare portfolio. The Director – Clinical Governance will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of our clinical governance and assurance systems, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality and operationally ready healthcare services across metropolitan, regional, remote and on-base environments. Working closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, operational and clinical leaders, and key stakeholders, you will lead a high-performing Clinical Governance function and translate governance principles into practical systems, standards and behaviours that support clinicians and improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilitieskey

- Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of clinical governance frameworks, policies, standards and assurance mechanisms across the Defence & National Security portfolio.
- Provide leadership across clinical safety and quality, risk management, incident management, credentialling, professional assurance and clinical compliance, ensuring consistent standards across all service delivery environments.
- Establish and oversee clinical audit, performance monitoring and quality improvement programs, using incidents, risks and performance data to drive organisational learning and continuous improvement.
- Lead credentialling, recredentialling and professional assurance frameworks, ensuring clinicians maintain appropriate registration, scope of practice, competency and professional standards.




- Provide high-quality clinical governance reporting, dashboards and assurance to executive, Board and key stakeholders, while supporting accreditation, audit and external assurance activities.
- Build and lead a high-performing Clinical Governance team and partner with clinical, operational and key stakeholders to embed a strong culture of accountability, safety, quality and continuous improvement.

About you

- A relevant postgraduate qualification in Clinical Governance, Health Management, Quality & Safety, Public Health, Healthcare Leadership or a related discipline.
- Significant senior leadership experience across clinical governance, healthcare quality, patient safety, accreditation, credentialling or healthcare assurance, ideally within a large or complex healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing clinical governance frameworks, assurance systems and clinical risk, incident management and quality improvement programs.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulation, accreditation, credentialling, professional practice and capability assurance, coupled with the ability to translate governance requirements into practical operational solutions.
- Highly developed leadership, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills,



with demonstrated ability to influence senior clinical and operational leaders and build trusted relationships in complex environments.
- Experience within Government-contracted healthcare, primary healthcare or another mission-critical environment will be highly regarded, as will experience supporting geographically dispersed workforces and large-scale service mobilisation.
