THE ROLE

The Regulatory Officer, Compliance undertakes compliance monitoring and assessment activity to ensure organisations, sole traders, and agencies meet their obligations in relation to the engagement of persons in child-related work. The role assesses information indicating possible non-compliance, verifies compliance with obligations under the Worker Screening Act 2020 (Vic), gathers and evaluates evidence, and engages with organisations, sole traders and agencies to explain and encourage compliance. The role supports case investigations led by senior regulatory officers, and prepares proportionate regulatory responses, including infringement action, in accordance with the Regulator's compliance and enforcement approach.

Reporting to the Manager, Compliance, the role also:

- undertakes case-level compliance assessments and produces transparent, accurate and evidence-based findings that support proportionate and timely regulatory responses; and
- contributes compliance findings and observations to the Branch's intelligence holdings, informing the targeting and prioritisation of future compliance activity.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Regulatory Officer contributes to Worker Screening Intelligence and Compliance Branch operations and to the delivery of the Victorian Government's Child Safety Reform agenda

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

- Assess reports, referrals and other information indicating possible non-compliance by organisations, sole traders and agencies with their obligations under the Worker Screening Act 2020 (Vic)



and manage an allocated case load to agreed timeliness and quality standards.
- Conduct compliance monitoring and verification activity, including requesting, examining and assessing the records and information that organisations, sole traders and agencies are required to keep and provide.
- Gather, evaluate and record evidence to a standard that supports regulatory decision making, escalation and, where required, prosecution, applying sound evidence handling practice.
- Engage with organisations, sole traders and agencies and other duty holders to explain their obligations, resolve non-compliance and secure voluntary compliance, escalating matters where a stronger response is warranted
